Lots of Fun at Finnegans Wake

Finnegans Wake was published on 4th May 1939; the 85th anniversary of James Joyce’s last work will be celebrated around the world. Events are being co- ordinated in Dublin, Melbourne, Boston, Los Angeles, and Ottawa. President Michael D Higgins will host a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin to commemorate the 85th anniversary on 12th April 2024. The James Joyce Association of Ottawa (JJAO) will hold its celebration in St Brigid’s Centre for the Arts on Saturday, 4th May, from 2pm-4pm. This event will feature the premiere of a film by Toronto-based One Little Goat theatre company highlighting excerpts from Finnegans Wake. The collaborators include: Paul Farrelly, former executive director of The Ireland Fund of Canada; Adam Seelig and Richard Harte of One Little Goat theatre company.  As well as the film, the JJAO’s celebration will include an address from Ambassador McKee, some short readings, music and songs.
